Learner power is an instuctional technique I’ve developed and use in my high school classroom. It has several parts: interactive online tutorials, a teacher acting as a coach and mentor, and a self monitoring tool for students to track their own progress. Learner Power is uses Motivation Theory to help students scaffold towards becoming self actualized learners. This model is also project based, and implements many ideas from Social Constructivism. The self monitoring tool uses Game Theory to imspire learners. Finally, my learner powered classroom is flipped.
